TechSpace Tweed

New TechSpace Venue for Tweed Heads Enthusiasts

If you think a raspberry pi is something that would go rather nicely with a dollop of fresh cream, then a new “TechSpace” meetup group to be hosted at the Tweed Heads Co-working Space might be the perfect place to come and learn.
The group is an off-shoot of the Gold Coast Tech Space that has met regularly at Robina for the past year following its startup at Southport in late 2011. GC TechSpace Secretary, David Tangye, said the Tweed Heads venue is a welcome addition to the current space in the Robina Community Centre and will serve as a hub for southern Gold Coast tech enthusiasts.
The group, organized largely by volunteers, is home to anyone who wants to network or collaborate with others, or learn about new technology such as robotics, drones, green technology and micro PCs.  As well as a “Hackerspace”, and learning centre, the group also serves as a pre-incubator for the development and commercialisation of innovative new technology.
Workshop discussion may sound a little baffling to the uninitiated as tech lovers converse in a language that traverses websites such as “thingiverse” and “instructables”, new technologies such as “arduinos” and a seemingly impenetrable range of programming lingo.  But according to Secretary, David, enthusiasts are only too happy to share their knowledge and interests with newcomers and anyone wanting to expand their understanding of the techno world.
Current projects at the Tweed Heads venue include the assembly of 3D printers that will form the hub of the new space and be available for use by meetup regulars.
The new group meets once a fortnight at Ourimbah Road, Tweed Heads.  Interested participants can find out more by contacting Elisa Young via
