Ten Minutes with Liz Gilbert Grant

Kirra-based Raw Food Caterer and Educator

Kirra resident, Liz Gilbert Grant runs a handful of local home-based businesses all dedicated to helping others “find simple ways to have great health, while having fun and enjoying life”.
One meeting with Liz and her passion for people and ability to quickly connect with others is evident. A raw food follower for over 30 years, Liz has a vibrant presence and an energy that exudes kindness and generosity making her an ideal role model and great ambassador for the raw vegan lifestyle.

Liz’s career path has been interesting and varied and has included a 7-year stint teaching seminars on communications and relationships and, in the early 80s, running the vegetarian restaurant “Groundswell” in a town called Whangerei, on New Zealand’s north island. 

Liz came to her current calling after realizing the central importance of food to a healthy lifestyle and its pivotal role in preventing disease and creating wellbeing.  She is now focused on helping others get the “food” aspect of their lives in order through her work with raw food classes, tastings and seminars.

Liz is also a great believer in the benefits of living naturally and maintaining close connection with nature and community.  Her work takes a “body, mind and spirit” approach and, while she doesn’t advocate any particular spiritual system or practice, she does have a gift of encouraging others to seek their own guidance and intuition from within.

Originally from Sydney, Liz moved to Kirra about 12 months ago and now works from her sun-drenched apartment in Miles street, a short walk from the beach.  As well as her raw food catering and teaching work, Liz is busy with a raft of community-based projects including supporting the elderly with education about good nutrition.  She can also be found giving free presentations about better health and the joys of living food in the libraries at Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach and Robina.
It’s Friday morning and, amongst her many other projects, Liz is speaking at a women’s wellness seminar and has an important catering assignment on the go – a wedding cake no less.  A raw chocolate ganache has been ordered and Liz is ready to start testing a few recipe ideas before the big day.  We leave Liz to her busy schedule and look forward to joining her again soon in some of her exciting upcoming events.
